ECT SUMMER PRODUCTIONSWhat are the 2023 Summer Productions?
The ECT Summer Productions are scaled back productions put together over a condensed period of time. The productions feature limited props, T-shirts as costumes with some accessories and no sets. ECT hires experienced professionals to direct our summer productions. Summer production registration is limited and will be granted on a first come, first served basis. Who can participate in the Summer Productions? The ECT Summer Productions are open to students who will be entering fifth grade to ninth grade for the 2023-24 school year. Students must be Elmhurst residents or attend an Elmhurst school to be eligible for participation. Our Kids production is available to students entering 5th-7th grade and our Junior show is available to students entering 6th-9th grade. Students entering grades 6 and 7 should choose which show is the better fit at this time. Registration is limited and will be granted on a first come, first served basis. Rehearsal Dates (NO Rehearsals the week of July 3):
Tech Week Rehearsals:
ECT Double Feature Show dates at Timothy Christian Auditorium - 3 public performances:
If your child is entering 6th or 7th grade, please choose show option best for your young actor: *Attendance Policy: Do I need to be available for all rehearsals? ECT maintains a strict attendance policy, however, we understand that summer is a busy time. It’s imperative that you make every attempt to be at all rehearsals. Only two absences are permitted for the Junior show and only one absence for the Kids show, none of which can be during Tech Week. We ask that you list potential conflicts on your registration form so that the production team is prepared. Attendance may play a part in role assignments for the show. If you have multiple conflicts with the rehearsal schedule, a Summer Production isn’t for you. We ask that you don’t sign up as it will be too disruptive to the production process. Are there auditions for the Summer Productions? Once your registration has been confirmed, you are a part of the production. Roles will be determined by the director and music director during the first week of the workshop. Please note that workshop attendance may play a part in role assignments. Summer Show Synopsis Legally Blonde Junior Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, Legally BlondeThe Musical JR. is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle's boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren't mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all. Legally Blonde JR. features large, energetic dance numbers with an expandable cast of sorority sisters, law school students, hairdressers and more. Disney’s The Lion King Kids Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world. The African savannah comes to life on stage with Simba, Nala, Scar, the Rafikis and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle... and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale. What happens next? Kids will sign up for audition slots scheduled on the first night of rehearsals. Cast members registered for the Summer shows must attend the second rehearsal with a parent. At this time, you will attend a short informational meeting, pay the non-refundable activity fee payable to ECT and turn in a signed Parent Contract and Cast Contract. Mandatory parent meetings will be held as follows: Legally Blonde Junior: Tuesday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. and Lion King Kids: Tuesday, June 27 at 5pm (or 6pm). More information
