OPTIONS

Songs from the Show

• Prepare a section (as defined in the audition packet) of 1 or 2 of the songs from the show.
• ​Sheet music with lyrics are found in our audition packet. 
• Tracks of the audition section both with and without vocal line are linked below. You will be accompanied by the track with vocal line when you audition. Tracks without the vocal line are also provided for those who would like to practice with it, but, per our Music Director, the track with the vocal line WILL be played for all those auditioning. 
• This option works great for kids experienced with musical theatre/singing. 

Alternative Options

• Sing Happy Birthday or The Star-Spangled Banner.
• Auditions with these choices will be "a capella" (with no piano or music track accompaniment). 
• Great for younger kids/kids less experienced with musical theatre/singing.

NEW TO
MUSICAL
​THEATRE?

ECT and our directors welcome kids with all levels of experience.

As an organization that works with children from 5th to 8th grade, our productions often include performers with a wide variety of experience in musical theatre. Many of the performers in our shows came to their first ECT audition with little or no experience. 

We offer options so those with less experience can prepare familiar songs while seasoned performers can work on more challenging material. 

If you're feeling nervous about auditions, that's normal! Even our most experienced 8th graders feel nervous when auditioning. They say the best way to feel more confident is to take the time to practice ... and to have fun with it. 

We are excited to welcome you to auditions, and our directors are excited to see you all!

UNDERSTANDING "VOCAL LINE"

The links under the Spamalot songs listed on this page take you to tracks that were recorded specifically by our Spamalot Music Director just for auditions. Each track is a recording of the specific section of the song (specific measures) listed in our audition packet. 

With Vocal Line

• The audition section of the rehearsal track with the vocal line added.
• Sing the notes played by the piano on this track.
• In a performance, your voice takes the place of the notes being played by the piano on this track. 

Without Vocal Line

• The audition section of the rehearsal track WITHOUT the vocal line
• Shows you how this section of the song would be played by the pit orchestra during a performance when the vocal line is only sung but not played by any other musicians.
